When Life is “Lifing” Shi(f)t Happen(s)

Sometimes life just happens and then we can choose what comes first. An excerpt about how a “lifing” life can impact your habits and consequently your career.

It’s been over 4 weeks since I reached out to you and shared some of my work and beliefs with the public. I was normally reaching out to you on a weekly basis.

Sometimes it just happens…life starts chiming in and all of a sudden, you have to choose which priorities to respect.

I chose to dedicate myself to some strategic planning and to some inner decision that had to take place. I went to the US for my business coaching mastermind, and got back full of new inputs and ideas. I personally love traveling, also for business, but I have to admit, it is exhausting. This time the jet lag hit me hard on the way back from the USA.

Since I had my burnout I had to learn to shift my attention to what my body tells me that it needs. I never listened to my body prior to my breakdown 10 years ago. 

When I broke down, I only had the option to listen to it. I had to learn it the hard way.

Otherwise I wouldn’t be here.

But why am I telling you this?

Because learning how to listen to ourselves is a huge part of a successful career strategy. The reason why we get to the point that we are unhappy in our career, is only because we pushed through with our reasoning and thought our way through frustration and resistance.

Reality is:

We are taught to think our way through life and work, and even relationships.

We are taught to use our brains.

We are taught to be “reasonable”

We are taught to “push our way through” situations and “be strong”.

This is a broken strategy. 

A totally broken strategy and I am deeply committed to fight it and prove it’s uselessness.

Our head and our ratio, is not always the best adviser we have.

Nowadays setting yourself up for success, means learning how to identify what you need, what your body needs and what it is you really want to do. 

It is about learning how to distribute and use your energy wisely. 

It is about knowing with whom you want to spend time with and with whom not.

It is about learning our own limits and respecting them, while being able to expand them.

Especially when things get tough.

Like my dear friend Lisa Carpenter says: “when life starts lifing” you got to choose, either your high functioning-multitasking squashed brain (did you know multitasking does actually NOT exist?? When I found out I was deeply disappointed) or your sanity.

I choose my sanity. And will forever choose my sanity.

That’s why I am here, and that’s why from now on I will be reaching out to you  a couple of times per month. Let me share an amazing quote with you which hit me really strongly when I first read it:
