Are you in control? (I used to want to be that)
This is a MASSIVE topic.
And one that is very dear to my heart too.
One of the many definitions of “control” is: “the power to influence or direct people’s behavior or the course of events.”
Now, obviously, I don’t know where you stand in regards to control in your own life. There are some people that actually do not get into a lot of control. There are a lot of people that do get into control. And there are many people that we would call “control freaks”.
As a matter of fact, there are different kinds of control freaks. There are some people that actually try to control themselves and control everyone else. And then there are some people that just try to control and manage their own behavior.
Now, where do you fit in with that?
Are you one of those people that have to try to control every circumstance, every person, every situation?
Here’s what I’ve noticed doing what I do, is that control issues destroy your own peace of mind.
So when you look at yourself, and the control that you get into, do you try to control yourself or your circumstances?
That is extremely exhausting, because you’re exhausting yourself out trying to control yourself and your environment.
Let me tell you straightforward in plain Enneagram 8 type style:
Control is an illusion.
You cannot control anything.
You have zero control in life and even if you think you do, you don’t.
The only thing you can do through being responsible for your career and life is to influence the results of what you want.
You can only work on you.
